The Government of Maharashtra has issued a new notification under the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) Act, 1948, extending ESI coverage to Educational Institutions and Medical Institutions employing 10 or more persons.

This coverage applies to public and private educational institutions and medical establishments such as hospitals, nursing homes, diagnostic centers, and pathological laboratories, across all areas where the ESI Act is already in force.
The provisions will be effective from 28 August 2025.

Impact: Eligible establishments must comply with ESI registration and contribution requirements as per the Act.
