Haryana Shops & Commercial Establishments (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025 – Key Highlights

The Haryana Government has issued an amendment to the Shops & Commercial Establishments Act, 1958, effective from November 2025, to simplify compliance and update labour provisions. Shops and establishments with 20 or more workers must mandatorily obtain online registration, while those with less than 20 workers need to submit only an online intimation. Working hours have been relaxed, registration is now fully digital with GPS location details, and penalties for non-compliance have been clearly defined. Employers are also required to issue appointment letters and identity cards to employees under the amended law.
