Maharashtra PT Due Date Changed to 15th of Every Month

The Government of Maharashtra has issued a new notification amending the Maharashtra State Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings and Employments Rules, 1975. As per the amendment, the due date for Professional Tax (PT) payment and return filing has been changed.

Earlier, PT payment and return were required to be filed by the last day of the month. Now, the due date has been revised to the 15th day of every month.

This change means employers must ensure that PT deducted from employees’ salaries is paid and the return is filed by the 15th of the following month instead of the month-end. Businesses and payroll teams should update their compliance calendars to avoid penalties or late fees
