The Ministry of Labour and Employment has notified 1 October 2026 as the date from which ESIC contributions become payable, and benefits under Chapter IV of the Code on Social Security, 2020 become available, in specified areas of Gujarat.

The notification covers:

15 non-implemented districts: Amreli, Aravalli, Banaskantha, Botad, Chhota Udaipur, Dahod, Dang, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Kachchh, Mahisagar, Narmada, Patan, Tapi and Vav-Tharad. It applies to the entire area of each district.
16 partially implemented districts: Ahmedabad, Anand, Bharuch, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Kheda, Mehsana, Morbi, Navsari, Panchmahal, Porbandar, Rajkot, Sabarkantha, Surat and Surendranagar. It applies to the entire area of each district.

From the effective date, employers and employees of establishments in these areas must pay contributions under Section 29. Employees will be eligible for applicable benefits under Chapter IV, through the Employees’ State Insurance C
