The Chhattisgarh Shops and Establishments (Amendment) Act, 2025 introduces important changes to the existing Shops & Establishments Act, 2017. The amendment was published in the Official Gazette on 8 July 2026.

Key Changes

• Applicability: The threshold under Section 1 has been increased from 10 to 20.
• Night Work for Women: Women may be permitted to work between 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM, subject to conditions notified by the State Government.
• Working Hours: The daily working-hour limit under Section 8 has been increased from 9 hours to 10 hours.
• Spread Over: The spread-over period has been increased to 12 hours.
• Annual Working Limit: The limit has been increased from 125 to 144 days under the relevant provision.
