The Maharashtra Government has declared that employees who are registered voters must be given a paid holiday on 15 January 2026 to cast their vote in the Municipal Corporation elections. If a full-day holiday is not possible due to essential services, employers must allow 2–3 hours of special leave so that employees can exercise their voting rights. This applies to all establishments, including private companies, shops, factories, IT firms, hotels, malls, and commercial establishments, and non-compliance may invite action by authorities.
