The Government of India has notified the Employees’ Deposit-Linked Insurance (Amendment) Scheme, 2025, effective from 18 July 2025. As per the amendment, if an employee dies during service, a minimum EDLI insurance benefit of ₹50,000 will be payable even if the average PF balance is below ₹50,000. The amendment also allows a gap of up to 60 days between employments to be ignored while calculating continuous service, and provides eligibility for EDLI benefits if death occurs within six months of the last PF contribution while the employee is still on the employer’s rolls
