The Government of Assam has revised the Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) effective from 1st January 2025 for contract workers. The new VDA is based on the latest CPI index, increasing wages across all categories like unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled, and highly skilled workers.

For example, unskilled workers will now receive ₹385 per day, while highly skilled workers will get ₹708 per day. This revision ensures better wage protection against inflation and improves overall earnings for workers.

Employers must also follow rules for overtime (double wages), weekly rest, and paid holidays as per labour laws.
