The Government of India has extended ESI (Employees’ State Insurance) coverage to multiple districts in Mizoram, effective 1st April 2026. This means that employers and employees in these areas must now contribute under the ESI scheme and will be eligible for medical and other benefits.

The newly covered districts include: Saitual, Serchhip, Champhai, Khawzawl, Lawngtlai, Lunglei, Saiha, Mamit, Kolasib, and Hnahthial.

This step ensures wider social security coverage and improved healthcare benefits for workers in the region.
