The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has simplified the process for extending the Certificate of Coverage (CoC) under the India–Japan Social Security Agreement. Now, extensions up to 8 years can be granted more easily in specific situations like project delays or employee replacement issues.

The new procedure allows regional offices to issue CoC extensions without needing prior approval from Japan in many cases, reducing delays and making the process faster for employers and employees. This change improves ease of doing business and benefits employees working abroad.
